Overview
Embreate is looking for a children’s science educator to advise the writing staff of the web series, “What If Kids”. The advisor must know how to explain complex scientific concepts, such as black holes and global warming, to children ages 6-11. Candidates must have experience in teaching science to children of these ages. (Experience in screenwriting is a plus, but not essential.) This series is a spin-off of the adult-oriented What If, the world most-watched science & technology web series.
Responsibilities
- The advisor will review existing “What If” episodes (with the production and writing team) to determine which scientific concepts to teach our young audience.
- The advisor will guide the writers in explaining these scientific concepts in visual and verbal terms that children ages 6-11 can easily grasp.
- The advisor must be able to answer questions about science from the show’s writers, and is expected to review each webisode’s overall content to ensure its scientific information is properly explained.
Skills/Qualifications
- A proven track record educating children, ages 6-11
- Knowledgeable in a wide range of science including physics, astronomy, the environment, technology and anatomy
- Can explain complex scientific concepts verbally and visually
- Welcome, but not essential: Experience in writing dialogue and action for a web series, TV series or film
